Director of Community Engagement

Student Honors Council values service to the Ball State and Muncie communities.

Student Honors Council not only works with the Ball State community, but we also work with the Muncie community, too. By participating in service opportunities such as volunteering at Camp Adventure or the Ross Community Center, our members work hard to give back to the community as a whole.

Food Drive:

  • Donations are collected throughout the school year in the Ball Honors House for Cardinal Collection

Service Points:

  • Members must accumulate a minimum of 5 service hours per academic semester
  • Five nonperishable food donations = One service hour
  • Service hours reset at the end of each academic semester
  • Current service hour balances may be viewed on your personal page on mySHC

Recent Acts of Service

  • Cardinal Collection: Started in Fall 2017 at the DeHority Complex by Nöel Keith, Cardinal Collection is a food-collection service that benefits Ball state students. By utilizing the rest of a standard meal swipe at lunch or dinner in the on-campus dining halls, students are encouraged to use their leftover dining funds to purchase nonperishable food items to donate to Cardinal Collection. These items are handed over every month to Cardinal Kitchen, going back to Ball State students in need. Student Honors Council sponsors a collection bin located inside the Ball Honors House, where students can donate their nonperishable products.
  • Camp Adventure: Every fall and spring semester, Student Honors Council volunteers with Camp Adventure in Muncie, IN to help keep the grounds up to par with the organization’s expectations
  • Season of Giving Dance: Student Honors Council hosted a dance during the fall semester and collected nonperishable food items and monetary donations for Second Harvest Food Bank as admission to the event
  • Ross Community Center: Started in Spring 2018, Student Honors Council began volunteering at the Ross Community Center facilitating an hour-long, weekly after-school program for children in elementary and middle school
